No More Snow Train

The Snow Train will not run in 2010, the current economic climate and exchange rate are blamed. It may return in the future but for now the only options will be the Eurostar direct to Moûtiers or change in Paris (if only they used the same station) for an SNCF service to Moûtiers - no disco carriage anymore! Eurostar Direct London to Moûtiers services are now bookable from £149

The snow train is an overnight party train which now operates with Eurostar via the Channel Tunnel. Sleeping accommodation is limited to couchettes - but with an all night bar and disco carriage there's little time to sleep anyway. It arrives in to Moûtiers very early every Saturday morning with very tired & hungover passengers ready to start skiing. It's still very popular and books up quick - 8 days skiing for a week off work.

The lifts started running albeit at reduced capacity on the 6th December and we were pleased for our guests who had booked a taster of the coming season.

Getting away from the mad crowds of Christmas shopping the the UK our small group of early season skiers enjoyed the first Vin Chaud and a whistle stop tour of the villages in the Three Valleys on a fabulous blue sky day last Saturday (13th Dec 08) See the pictures in the Gallery   http://www.skicourchevel.net/index.php/gallery/full/54/

 Having booked cheap flights, they enjoyed 3 full days of skiing and good company in the evenings....even managed a Pool competition one evening in the local bar in the village...and dare I add watched the Final of X Factor!!!!

Although it is normally consideed a chic top of the market price range place to ski, Courchevel does offer suprisingly good savings for families.

2 Adults plus 2 Children can have 6 days in The Three Valleys for €720 (or Courchevel Valley for €582). Passes are a minimum of 6 days with special rates up to 14 days and options for 3,4,5 or 6 children.

Note that "children" are classed as under 18 for these rates instead of under 13 as for individual passes. That means two adults and four 17 year olds could ski the Three Valleys for 6 days for €720 instead of €1350- a saving of €630 (note that separate passes are issued, you don't have to ski together!).

Apart from this obvious saving there are alternative packages including a beginners pass, actual free lifts! and an "Option Pass" which gives 12 days skiing whenever you want throughout the whole season. Adult Three Valleys €450 and Courchevel Valley €380.

Great news I think you will agree in these days of  the "Credit Crunch"
