OTHER ACTIVITIES
SWIMMING POOLS
There is a beautiful open air swimming pool in 1550 with a childrens pool, its own snack bar, a restaurant next door and grassy areas around it should you wish to take your own picnic, there is also the choice of other swimming pools in Prolagnon or Champagny or Brides les Bains, of which 2 of these are thermal pools! Plus ofcourse there is the lake in Bozel just a 5 minute stroll from our chalet, views of which can be seen in the gallery, and of course this is patrolled by lifeguards during July and August and is FREE.
SQUIRREL TRAIL
A permanat fixture in Les Grandes Coombes for children of all age is a tree top trail supervised and run by the Bureau des Guides. It ends with a Tarzan run from the top of the trees to the ground crossing a small brook. This is open daily from 4.30pm, has to be booked and costs 8 Euros per person.
ARCHERY, PAINT BALLING
This is also in Grandes Coombes behind the car park at the Swimming Pool. Book and pay on site
TENNIS
There are 10 full sized tennis courts available for public use situated opposite the swimming pool. You will need your on racquets and balls amd again you book and pay on site.
FISHING
Numerous lakes for the enthusiast to fish in. See tourist board for current licenses and costs.
SKIIING
You need to be up early to take full advantage of the lifts. It is quit costly but it is a fantastic xperience.
The biggest and best skiing in the area is at Tignes on the glacier, lifts open at 6.45am. The usual ski hire shops are available at the bottom of the fununcular and there is a restaurant open all summer whilst the lifts are open at the top of the lift.
GOLF
There is a 9 hole course at Courchevel 1850 and an 18 hole at Meribel. Green fees are not as expensive as British courses but you need to check direct with the clubs for availability.
PARACENDING
Numerous schools operate from the area but for the once in a lifetime experience try a tandem descent with an experienced flier. Flights can be booked at La Praz and other independent operatetors put up posters with contact numbers. All are fully insured and have exemplary safety standards.
LAKES
Large lakes provide beach-like swimming at Annecy and Aix-Les-Bains. A good day out is to take your bikes and drive to the beach at Doussard. From here you can swim, have a picnic and then take the dedicated cycleway into Annecy for a visit. The distance is 15 km and nearly all away from the main road but the views are well worth it. Being a valley the cycleway is relatively flat and fully tarmaced. For the less energetic there are numerous other points to join the route and at times in the height of summer the journey by bike is quicker than by car.
There are so many other things to occupy your time in the Alps ....too numerous to mention here but for any further inforamtion or details please do contact us.
